The DNR has hired an invasive species specialist that will focus on a 13-county area of southwest Minnesota. Nicholas Brown is 1 of 8 such specialists working for the DNR across the state. He will be based out of the Hutchinson Area DNR office and will serve Big Stone, Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Lyon, McLeod, Meeker, Nicollet, Redwood, Renville, Sibley, Swift, Lac qui Parle and Yellow Medicine counties. Prior to joining the Minnesota DNR, Brown worked for The Nature Conservancy and the Georgia DNR. He will be available for questions on invasive species identification, management and prevention activities, and will also address invasive species situations for specific lakes.
