The icy roads around the area Monday afternoon led to several crashes, including on Highway 169 in Blue Earth County. 57-year-old Roberto Guzman of Madelia lost control of his 2006 Mitsubishi Endeavor on northbound 169 at just after 4:30pm and the car hit the guard rails and crossed the median before hitting a southbound truck driven by a 62-year-old Wyoming man. Guzman and his 3 passengers, along with the truck driver, were all hospitalized in Mankato. Their injuries are said to be non life-threatening. A 53-year-old Mankato man was injured on Highway 169 in Nicollet County about an hour before that crash when he lost control of his car on the icy highway and it entered the ditch and rolled several times. Gary Westphal was ejected from the vehicle. He is also being treated in Mankato with non life-threatening injuries. Crashes also occurred on Highway 14 and Interstate 90 on Monday due to the icy conditions.
