Brownton Civic Center Done 17 Feb 12

Work on the new Brownton Area Civic Center is essentially complete. The new facility is located in the west wing of the former Brownton School building, which the city purchased from the Glencoe Silver Lake School District in 2009. Brownton voters then approved a bond issue to renovate the west wing. The building is now the home of the Brownton Public Library and the city offices. The Brownton City Council set the fee schedule for the gym in the new facility during it’s recent meeting. Organizations using the gym on a seasonal basis will be charged $20 per-game and $18 for a full day of practice. Non-seasonal use would be $2 more on each occasion, and all other events will be charged $25 an hour. The council also adopted a no-alcohol policy for the gym unless it gives special permission. An “Open Gym” program is being developed for the future as well.
