A Bird Island man made his first appearance in court on Wednesday after allegedly stabbing a man in rural Spicer earlier this month. 28-year-old Michael Jon Underland is charged with 2nd-degree assault for allegedly stabbing the man in the abdomen at a party on February 5th. The victim reported going to a home in rural Spicer after bar closing time, and that he and Underland had been arguing. Underland allegedly threatened the man and brandished a pocket knife, which the victim then took away, but the 2 began arguing again later and Underland allegedly stabbed him with a different knife. Underland’s bail has been set at $80,000 without conditions, and his next appearance in court is February 27th.
