A former St. Peter man accused of killing his infant son in 2010 was sentenced to 15 years in prison in Nicollet County Court on Tuesday. 29-year-old Christopher Farris received the maximum sentence possible after pleading guilty to 2nd-degree murder for the death of the 3-month-old boy. Farris had initially claimed that the baby hit his head in a doorway, but later admitted to violently shaking the child for 10 minutes, attempting to force a pacifier into his mouth, and biting his cheek in an effort to revive him. Investigators determined that the death was a homicide resulting from head trauma. Farris will serve at least 10 years in prison before being eligible for parole.
