A 57-year-old man whose ATV fell into the open water of an icy lake over the weekend was rescued by two men who live nearby. The St. Bonifacius man was driving his ATV on Lake Sarah in Independence at just before 7am Saturday when he drove into open water about 200 yards from shore. The man yelled for help. Two men who live by the lake pushed a ladder to him and pulled him ashore. The man was hospitalized, but is expected to recover. Minnesota residents are reminded that the sporadic warm weather this winter has left ice conditions on lakes across the state unpredictable.
