The Sibley East School Board has approved the purchase of an Apple iPad2 tablet computer for every student in grades 5 through 12. The “Project Ed.21″ initiative will begin next school year at Sibley East for an estimated cost of $342,000. Students will be assessed a $50 “Technology Fee” to help offset the costs. School officials estimate that the 3-year cost of the initiative will be approximately $883,000. All Sibley East teachers were receiving their iPads this week in order to begin training on the devices. Both Sibley East campuses are expected to have complete wireless internet capability by the end of the month as well.
