The Sibley East School Board is scheduled to vote on purchasing upwards of a thousand Apple iPads this (TUE) evening. Every Sibley East student in grades 5-12 would receive an iPad2 under the “Project Ed.21″ proposal, at an estimated cost of $200,000. All Sibley East teachers would have iPad access as well, and the number of the tablet computers available for younger students would be increased. The establishment of a “Technology Fee” to replace the iPad units in the future may also be discussed. The board is also scheduled to receive an update on the district’s wireless network. Both Sibley East campuses are expected to have complete wireless internet capability by the end of the month. The board will also elect it’s officials and make committee appointments this evening. The meeting starts at 6:30pm in Room 149 at the Sibley East Arlington Campus.
