The Sibley East School Board is expected to make a decision next week on whether to purchase upwards of a thousand Apple iPads to supply to Sibley East students. The proposal calls for providing an iPad2 to every Sibley East student in grades 5-12 at an estimated cost of $200,000. The initiative would also provide all Sibley East teachers iPad access, and increase the number of the tablet computers that are available for younger students. If the proposal is approved by the school board Tuesday evening, the establishment of a “Technology Fee” will also be discussed. The fee would be used to replace the iPad units in the future, and would likely be between $35 and $60. Both Sibley East campuses will have complete wireless internet capability by the end of this month as well.
