The New Ulm Area Emergency Food Shelf continues to serve a growing number of families and individuals seeking food assistance. In January, the food shelf aided 239 families. This is the highest monthly total in the 30-year history of the food shelf. The previous high was 231 families, set last November. The New Ulm Food Shelf covers the same area as the District 88 School District. The food shelf is currently in need of hot and cold cereals, peanut butter, tuna helper, and canned fruits. Donations may be left in the food shelf boxes at Hy-Vee or CashWise in New Ulm or at many area churches.
