The number of year-end bank robberies was up sharply in Minnesota, and the FBI is unsure why. Bank robberies in the state jumped in December, compared with a year ago. In December 2010, Minnesota had 5 bank robberies. In December of 2011 the state saw 13 bank robberies, including one in St. Peter. Minnesota ended 2011 with 67 bank robberies for the year, up from 54 in 2010. Some of the robbers used weapons while others did not. The suspect in the armed robbery of the Wells Fargo bank in St. Peter on December 22nd remains at-large.
