New Ulm Man Turns Himself In 05 Jan 12

A New Ulm man faces felony drug charges after turning himself in to the police. 49-year-old Robert V. Opitz reportedly called the authorities and asked that an officer come to his residence on the 1500 block of North Payne Street in New Ulm. There was supposedly the odor of burnt marijuana when the officer arrived, and Opitz allegedly gave the officer 3 large mason jars containing over 129 grams of marijuana. Opitz then reportedly requested chemical dependency treatment and was referred to the New Ulm Medical Center. He was charged with a 5th-degree controlled substance crime on Tuesday in Brown County Court.
