The latest recipient of the New Ulm Human Rights Award has been announced. The New Ulm Human Rights Commission presents the annual award to a person, persons, community organizations or business in the New Ulm area who have contributed significantly to human rights. This year’s recipient of the award is Kennedi Kokesch. Her volunteer humanitarian work includes collecting clothes and books, as well as working for a Honduran orphanage, organizing the recent “Soles4Souls” shoe drive, packing meals for Kids Against Hunger, and more. Kokesch will be honored during a public reception at the Lind House in New Ulm from 4:30 to 6 p-m on Friday, January 20th. An award ceremony will take place at 5pm.
