The New Ulm Police Department is investigating a series of burglaries and thefts that occurred this week, and 2 people have been taken into custody for the crimes. The investigation is focused on burglaries of at least 3 occupied residences and numerous garages, as well as thefts from parked vehicles that took place late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. The New Ulm Police K-9 unit assisted in the investigation, which resulted in the arrest of 20-year-old Dillon James Grimmett and 20-year-old Joseph Thomas Rewitzer, both of New Ulm. The investigation is ongoing, and more thefts and burglaries continue to be reported. Authorities urge citizens to inspect their property and contact the New Ulm Police Department if they believe they have been the victim of a crime. Residents are reminded to lock their doors and secure their property to prevent future crimes as well.
