A new exhibit opens this weekend at the Treaty Site History Center in St. Peter. The traveling exhibition called “Why Treaties Matter” examines treaties between Native Americans and the United States government, and how treaty rights are exercised today. Nicollet County Historical Society Director Ben Leonard says it focuses on the Dakota and Ojibwe nations that now reside in Minnesota. The new exhibit will be unveiled at 2pm on Sunday at the Treaty Site History Center in St. Peter, and runs through January 30th. More information can be found atwww.nchsmn.org.
