An 18-year-old woman is dead after being stabbed more than 30 times at a Montevideo pizza restaurant Friday night, and police have arrested a 24-year-old co-worker. Darek Nelson allegedly followed Vinessa Lozano of Montevideo to the parking lot of the Pizza Ranch at about 8:45pm Friday. Montevideo Police Chief Adam Christopher says that Nelson apparently had an infatuation with Lozano which wasn’t reciprocated. When officers responded to the scene they found Nelson standing over Lozano and holding a knife. She died at a hospital a short time later. Nelson is in the Yellow Medicine County jail awaiting his first appearance in court. Authorities say he will likely face 1st-degree murder charges, and has no prior convictions.
