A 24-year-old man is now charged with fatally stabbing an 18-year-old woman outside the Montevideo pizza restaurant where they both worked. Darek Nelson was charged with 2nd-degree murder, 1st-degree manslaughter and 2nd-degree assault Tuesday in Chippewa County Court for the death of 18-year-old Vinessa Lozano of Montevideo. Nelson reportedly did not enter a plea. Montevideo Police were called to the Pizza Ranch Friday night and found Lozano on the ground and Nelson standing over her, holding a knife. Video footage from the first squad car on the scene allegedly showed Nelson stab the woman before he stepped away. Lozano died at a hospital after being stabbed more than 30 times. Investigators say Nelson was apparently upset because Lozano didn’t show up at his house the weekend before to spend time with him. His bail was set at $750,000 Tuesday.
