MN River Cleanup Results 17 Jan 12

A new report on the nearly billion-dollar Minnesota River cleanup river is showing disappointing results. The Pollution Control Agency study says the project has turned up little results since it started 20 years ago, showing the basic insects at the bottom of the food chain are still absent and fish are still scarce in the main river. The state has spent millions to promote better land-use practices and upgrading wastewater treatment plants in addition to monitoring research related to the project. Some experts say state leaders are looking for quick results on a river that was ruined over the course of 100 years.
