Authorities have released the identity of the person found dead in a Mapleton garage on Sunday, and have ruled that the cause of death was suicide. The SWAT Team was called out to the home on Silver Street in Mapleton early Sunday morning over concerns that there were weapons in the home. Neighbors had called police at about 3:50am in order to check the health and welfare of the home’s occupant, 34-year-old Leroy Bert Sorensen, who had reportedly made suicidal threats. When officers arrived on the scene they were unable to establish contact with Sorensen and the SWAT Team was called to assist with entering the home. Sorensen’s body was found inside the attached garage and the Blue Earth County medical examiner ruled his death a suicide. Multiple area law enforcement agencies assisted at the scene.
