Fairmont Administrator Resigns 26 Jan 12

The city administrator of Fairmont officially announced his retirement this week. Jim Zarling’s retirement will take effect May 30th. Zarling told the Fairmont City Council during it’s meeting this week that he is committed to making sure the transition to a new city administrator is a smooth one. He has reportedly recommended that Mike Humpal be appointed as his replacement. At least one city councilor wants the city to do a formal search instead. The possible appointment of Humpal to the position will be discussed during the Fairmont City Council’s February 13th meeting.
