Representatives of the New Ulm School District will be holding a public meeting this (THU) evening to discuss the possible change to a 4-day school week. The cost-cutting idea is being considered for implementation next school year, with 2 possible calendars being proposed. Both options would provide District 88 students with the same amount of instructional time as the current calendar by lengthening each school day by about 30 minutes. The student off-day would likely be Monday. The district has published extensive information on a 4-day week on its website, www.newulm.k12.mn.us. Tonight’s public meeting on the topic begins at 7pm at the District Administrative Center Boardroom in New Ulm. Additional meetings on the possibility of a 4-day week are also scheduled for January 25th and January 31st.
