December is behind us – and it’s already in the record books as one of Minnesota’s mildest and least snowy Decembers. State Climatologist Pete Boulay says temperatures averaged 5 to 10 degrees above normal, and the amount of precipitation received was way below normal as well. New Ulm received just under 6-and-a-half inches of snow throughout the December of 2011, a little more than an inch of precipitation. In comparison, December of 2010 saw over 33 inches of snow fall in New Ulm.
