Federal agents continue to investigate the connections between a string of bank robberies across Minnesota, and whether the man recently arrested following a bank robbery in Brewster is responsible. 49-year-old Mark Wetsch is believed to have robbed at least 6, and possibly 12 banks in the state. Authorities now also believe that he was responsible for a bank robbery in Gaylord that took place last June. He is also the suspect in a late December bank robbery in St. Peter. Wetsch was charged last week with holding up the bank in Brewster with a toy gun. He was arrested on Highway 169 near St. Peter the day that robbery took place. Wetsch was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison in 2005 as well for defrauding a Twin Cities nursing home out of around $1.4 million.
