Members of the Patriot Guard will be placing wreaths in every community in Redwood County this Saturday. Wreaths Across Redwood County is part of a nationwide effort to remember fallen soldiers, honor those who have served, and teach children the value of freedom. Congress has declared the second Saturday in December as Wreaths Across America day, and last year over 160,000 wreaths honored our veterans. Saturday’s events in Redwood County will take place at Veterans Memorial Sites at every town in the county as well as in Morton and the Lower Sioux Indian Community. Patriot Guard riders will arrive in each community at 11:30, and a wreath laying ceremony will then take place at 12 Noon. In most locations, 5 wreaths will be placed, one each in honor of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and the Coast Guard. The wreaths have been donated by the Redwood Falls chapter of the VFW. The public is encouraged to attend a ceremony.
