Ponder Dealing With Hip Pointer
(Eden Prairie, MN) — Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder suffered a hip pointer injury in Sunday’s loss to the Broncos. Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said Monday that Ponder will be limited in practice this week if he is even able to workout. Joe Webb will start if Ponder can’t play Sunday against the Lions in Detroit.
Twins Bringing Back Capp
(Dallas, TX) — The Twins have agreed to a one-year deal with reliever Matt Capps. The pact is pending a physical. Capps was just 4-and-7 with 15 saves and a 4.25 ERA in 69 games with the Twins last season. Capps struggled with forearm and wrist problems during the year. Capps will likely handle closing duties in place of Joe Nathan, who has signed with the Rangers.
Sharks Host Wil
(San Jose, CA) — The red-hot Wild will face the Sharks in San Jose this evening. Minnesota ran its winning streak to four with a 5-3 victory over the Ducks on Sunday. Minnesota has won nine of its last 11 overall to enter tonight’s tilt 17-7-and-3 on the season. The puck drops at 9:30.
NHL Approves Realignment Plan
(Pebble Beach, CA) — The NHL Board of Governors approved a realignment format on Monday that will feature four conferences for next season. The new plan eliminates the current two-conference, six-division model. Under the format, two conferences will have eight teams and the other two conferences will have seven. Under the new plan, Minnesota will be in the same conference as Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Detroit, Nashville, St. Louis and Winnipeg.
NBA Schedule Released Tonight
(New York, NY) — The 2011-12 NBA schedule will be released tonight. The NBA will unveil its revised 66-game regular season slate in an NBA TV special. The schedule will kick off with five games on Christmas Day. The schedule is still contingent on the players ratifying the new labor agreement.
