Saints Smoke Vikes
(Minneapolis, MN) — Drew Brees threw for 412 yards and five touchdowns as the Saints smoked the Vikings, 42-20. Christian Ponder threw for 120 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. Adrian Peterson returned from a three-game absence and rushed for 60 yards in the lopsided loss. The 2-and-12 Vikings have dropped six straight games for the first time since 1984. The Vikes visit the Redskins on Saturday.

Vikings Give Sullivan Extension
(Eden Prairie, MN) — The Vikings signed center John Sullivan to a contract extension on Saturday. Sullivan has been Minnesota’s starting center since the 2009 season. The Notre Dame product has started 43 of the 59 games he’s appeared in.

Wolves Blast Bucks
(Minneapolis, MN) — Kevin Love poured in 21 points and pulled down 15 rebounds as the Timberwolves opened preseason play with a 117-96 win over the Bucks on Saturday. Michael Beasley added 21 points and six rebounds for Minnesota. J.J. Barea had 14 points and six assists in his Minnesota debut. The teams will meet again in Milwaukee to wrap up exhibition play on Wednesday.

Gophers Off Unitl Thursday
(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota men’s basketball team will host North Dakota State on Thursday. The Gophers had the weekend off after notching a 76-56 win over Central Michigan their last time out last Tuesday. Minnesota is 11-and-1 on the season.

Canucks Host Wild
(Vancouver, British Columbia) — The Wild will begin a three-game road trip against the Canucks in Vancouver tonight. Minnesota suffered a 2-1 shootout loss to the Islanders at The X on Saturday. Minnesota has dropped three straight to enter tonight’s tilt 20-8-and-5 on the season. The puck drops tonight at 9:00 p.m.
