Southern Minnesota food maker Schwan’s is laying off about 60 of it’s employees in the state in a cost-cutting move. The job cuts will reportedly be split equally between Schwan’s Marshall and Bloomington locations. The company would not say in which divisions the layoffs are taking place. Laid-off employees will stay on the payroll and receive benefits through the holidays, however. They also are being offered severance packages and outplacement services. The jobs are being eliminated to help the company reduce operating costs. The cuts represent about 2% of the 2,500 Schwan’s employees in Minnesota.
