The Renville County Board on Tuesday toured the area proposed as a possible all-terrain-vehicle park prior to voting on the controversial project next week. The proposed ATV park has reportedly divided local Renville County residents and recreational users of the Minnesota River. Next week the county board will decide whether staff should proceed with efforts to obtain state and federal grant funds for the park. The estimated cost of the project is approximately $1.3 million. It would be located in Sacred Heart Township north of the Minnesota River and east of the Enestvedt Seed Farm, and would be bisected by Scenic Byway County Road 15. Landowners have offered to sell separate parcels of 157 and 115 acres for the park. If Renville County is to proceed with the project this coming year, grant applications need to be ready by the end of February. The county would then need to match portions of the various grants.
