The Minnesota Republican Party is moving forward with an interim leader after it’s chair resigned on Friday. Activist Kelly Fenton was elected interim leader of the state’s GOP party, filling a seat vacated by Tony Sutton, whose term was not set to expire until April 2013. Despite the party’s inner turmoil, including more than $580,000 in debt, Republican leaders are encouraging members to stay calm. An election for a new chair will be called within 30 days.
