Voters in parts of Martin County are heading to the polls today (TUE) for a special Primary Election. The District 1 Martin County Board seat is vacant following the resignation of Gerald Boler in September after he pleaded guilty to double-billing the county more than $1,100 for conference reimbursements. A total of 4 candidates filed for the seat: Bob Toland of Winnebago, Brad Berg of Truman, Elliott Belgard of Truman, and Steven W. Pierce of Winnebago. The top 2 vote-getters in today’s Primary will take part in the Special Election for the seat on February 14th. The seat will then be on the ballot during the general election next November as well. Martin County’s District 1 covers the eastern portion of the county, including Truman, Granada, East Chain and the northeast section of Fairmont. Polls are open until 8pm.
