The assistant county attorney in Blue Earth County ruled this week that the alleged confession of a Lake Crystal woman accused of murdering her husband can be used in court. The attorney for Jennifer Nibbe had requested that the statements Nibbe initially made to authorities be thrown out because she had asked to talk to her attorney. Assistant County Attorney Pat McDermott found that the interviewing officers had gone to great lengths to make her aware of her rights, however, and that the statements she made can be used in her jury trial for 1st-degree murder. James Nibbe was shot to death in the couple’s Lake Crystal home in August of 2010. Jennifer Nibbe now faces the possibility of life in prison. Her trial had been previously delayed, and a new date has not been set.
