A Lafayette teen who started a fire in a barn in rural Nicollet this past June was ordered to pay over $22,000 in restitution this week in Nicollet County Court. 17-year-old Skylar Robert Reed pleaded guilty to felony Negligent Fires in August and a 2nd-degree Arson charge was dismissed. A 4-year prison term was stayed in exchange for the plea, and he was placed on probation for 4 years and multiple conditions of release were imposed. Reed had reportedly been drinking the night he set several cushions on fire in the barn before calling 911 to report the fire. He admitted to starting the fires after his shoe prints were found at the scene.
