The State Fire Marshall’s Office remains on the scene of a house fire in Gaylord in an effort to determine the official cause of the fire. The fire at the home of Dean and Wanda Messner on Lakeside Drive in Gaylord was discovered at approximately 2:30pm Sunday, and firefighters from Gaylord and Arlington spent over 3 hours on the scene. The fire is believed to have started in the basement mechanical room. It burned a large hole in the main level floor, and also melted a copper pipe fitting, which caused water to pour into the room and helped extinguish the blaze. No injuries were reported, but the home sustained severe smoke damage. Fire Marshall investigators have been on the scene for the past 3 days trying to determine the cause.
