While the weather remains relatively mild in southern Minnesota, the Minnesota State Patrol temporarily closed Interstate 94 in northwestern Minnesota Wednesday morning after at least four semis slid on the icy road and blocked traffic. Freezing rain had fallen in that area, causing several semis to jackknife and two to collide near Barnesville in Clay County at about 8:30am. Numerous vehicles also slid off the interstate. At least 100 motorists were temporarily stranded by the interstate closure. It was reopened at about 10am.
