A statewide Safe and Sober drunk driving crackdown continues throughout the month of December. More than 400 law enforcement agencies across Minnesota are taking part in the enforcement effort, including numerous agencies around the local area. Over the past 3 years in Minnesota there have been a total of 89 traffic deaths in December, and 24 of them were alcohol-related. Authorities remind motorists to plan ahead for a safe ride home before celebrating the holidays, including by designating a sober driver, taking a cab or other public transportation home, or spending the night at the location of the celebration. The December DWI enforcement is part of the state’s Toward Zero Deaths traffic safety program.
