Charges In Grand Marais Courtroom Shooting 19 Dec 11

Charges are expected today (MON) against a Grand Marais man convicted on a sex charge who’s jailed in the shooting of the prosecutor and a witness in his case. 42-year-old Daniel Schlienz is accused of opening fire on the county attorney and witness Thursday after a jury found him guilty.  The victims are recovering from their wounds. The suspect’s father, Gary Schlienz, says his son is remorseful but has no memory of what happened. He says his son told him he left the courthouse after the verdict intending to get a gun out of his truck and shoot himself.
