Cap-X 2020 Power Lines Turning On 22 Dec 11

Xcel Energy has turned on a new high-voltage transmission line between Monticello and Saint Cloud, the first part of what they say will be the largest expansion of transmission lines in the Upper Midwest in 30 years. Xcel’s Tim Carlsgaard says 730 miles of new lines are planned as part of the CapX 2020 project, including the line that runs through much of the local area on it’s way from South Dakota to the Twin Cities. Carlsgaard says a utility in Indiana is buying power from a wind farm in southern Minnesota as well.

    “Carlsgaard says a utility in Indiana is buying power from a wind farm in southern Minnesota as well.”  That’s such wonderful news—as long as you aren’t one of the landowners who are getting run over by these “ultilities” have tolerate having their lanbdscapes ruined by these ugly wind turbines as well as having their homesteads devalued because no one will want to buy a place that has EMT emitting transmission lines running right by.  Who will be reinbursing us for the lost value of the property that we have toiled away on for the past 35 plus years?
