Boy Falls Through Ice 19 Dec 11

The mild weather over the weekend means that ice conditions across the state remain unsafe in many locations. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says you should check the ice conditions with a local bait shop or resort before heading out onto the lake. A youth in Lindstrom barely escaped injury over the weekend when the go-cart he was riding fell through the ice on an east-central Minnesota lake. The Chisago County Sheriff’s Office says the teen was riding on South Lindstrom Lake, more than 800 yards from shore Saturday evening when the ice gave way beneath him. The boy was reportedly in the water for about 15 minutes before witnesses were able to pull him to shore by sled.
