The Arlington City Council hired a new slate of officers for the Arlington Fire Department this week. The new appointments were based on recommendations from a committee comprised of Arlington Mayor Jim Kreft and City Councilors Bob Pichelmann and Galen Wills. John Zaske will be the new Arlington Fire Chief as of January 1st. He replaces Jeff Otto, who served as Arlington Fire Chief for the past 10 years. Zaske will serve a 2-year term. Jim Farber will be the new assistant fire chief, replacing Zaske in that position, and serving the remaining one year of his term. Corey Carpenter will serve a 2-year term as the new second assistant fire chief in Arlington as well.
