Stolen Waseca Hard Drive Recovered 02 Nov 11

A computer hard drive belonging to the city of Waseca and containing personal information on city employees as well as people who do business with the city was stolen recently, but was recovered this week from a group of teenagers. Waseca police had received a call about teens looking into cars, and when the juveniles were questioned one of them voluntarily admitted to taking the hard drive from a vehicle last Monday. Authorities say that the 14-year-olds would not have been able to access the information on the hard drive because it takes special hardware to open and everything is encrypted. Charges are pending against the juvenile involved in the crime.
