A 19-year-old from New London has been sentenced to 62 days in jail and 5 years of probation for stealing a snowmobile last March. Jake Andrew Doty was also ordered to complete 150 hours of community service and was fined $50 for the felony charge, which will be reduced to a misdemeanor if he complies with the conditions of sentence. Doty was arrested after DNA evidence was recovered from blood on the sled’s damaged windshield and on a stocking cap found where the machine had been run through a barbed wire fence. It matched his DNA. The crime occurred on March 12th in rural Spicer.
