The Minnesota Department of Transportation is wrapping up the 2011 road construction season. MN/DOT officials say crews worked hard to resurface roads, replace bridges, improve drainage systems and complete other vital projects aimed at improving the quality of life for all Minnesotans. A total of 128 of this year’s 258 state highway and bridge projects were finished by November 1st. The remaining 130 will either be completed by the end of 2011 or will continue into next year. In the local area, work on Highway 14 between Waseca and Owatonna will conclude next summer, the 3-phase expansion of Highway 60 from Worthington to Bigelow is scheduled for completion in 2013, and a $10-million resurfacing project on Highway 83 from Mankato to Highway 30 will still wrap up this month. The construction season was interrupted by a three-week state government shutdown in July.
