The New Ulm Area Emergency Food Shelf set another new record in October by helping a total of 213 families. This was one more family than the previous record, which was set two months ago. The New Ulm food shelf has been averaging around 200 families monthly in 2011. Corporate food donations from Wal-Mart, Target, Kraft Foods and area pork producers, as well as food collections at Cash Wise, Hy-Vee and area churches allow the food shelf to keep up with client needs. This past week alone Wal-Mart donated around 3,200 pounds of food to the New Ulm Area Food Shelf.
