New Contender For Southern MN Congress Seat 28 Nov 11

Republican Allen Quist is planning another run for the US House in southern Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District. Quist reportedly sent a letter to GOP activists saying that he will become a candidate and that he plans to announce his intentions on December 1st in Winona. The former state representative and gubernatorial candidate, lost the Republican congressional endorsement in 2010 to Randy Demmer. Another Republican, state Senator Mike Parry of Waseca is also running. The eventual GOP nominee is expected to square off against DFL Representative Tim Walz, who was first elected in 2006.
