The Minnesota Music Hall of Fame inducted six new members in ceremonies at Turner Hall in New Ulm Friday night. Johnny Gag was among those inducted.
Gag was born in New Ulm and now lives in North Mankato. He has played with Norm Wilke, the Katzenjammers and his own Johnny Gag Trio and still plays ocassional social events. Also inducted were the Swinging Ambassadors, whose member Tom Muehlbauer had the most inspirational words of the night.
Other inductees included violin maker and composer Lothar Meisel, organist Paul Manz, country singer and songwriter Johnny Western and old-time musician Gilbert “Gilly” Maus. The 2011 Inductee Showcase is today from 10 – 2 at the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame at 27 North Broadway in New Ulm.
