MN Deer Opener Fatalities 07 Nov 11

At least 3 Minnesota hunters died on the opening weekend of deer season this past weekend. A 72-year-old St. Paul man apparently fell out of his tree stand in Beltrami County east of the Red Lake area on Saturday and died at the scene. Another hunting accident in St. Louis County on Saturday killed an 84-year-old Maple Grove man who apparently fell from his deer stand after his clothes caught on fire as he lit a propane heater. A 51-year-old Sartell man died early Sunday as well after he apparently fell from his stand and his gun discharged, fatally wounding him.
