The Lake Crystal City Council this week decided that the city would determine the resignation date for Lake Crystal Police Chief Tony Cornish. Cornish announced his upcoming resignation recently, but gave the city some options as to when he would step down as Lake Crystal Police Chief. He gave the council a choice between ending his tenure as chief either on January 1st of 2012, or following the 2012 legislative session. The state representative is paid for only 1 hour per-day as chief when the legislature is in session, so him staying on until it wraps up in May could potentially save Lake Crystal tens of thousands of dollars. After thanking Cornish for his years of service to the community earlier this week, the council decided that the date of his resignation will be discussed during a council work session beginning at 6:30pm this coming Monday.
