The winter storm system that moved through Minnesota over the weekend left behind not only snow, but very icy and dangerous conditions as well. The State Patrol says the best way to avoid crashes when driving in winter conditions is to allow yourself more time to reach your destination. State Patrol Lieutenant Eric Roeske says if you find yourself in a skid, let off the gas and don’t use the brake, and be careful not to over-correct. Stearns County received the most snow from the weekend’s storm system, where 11 inches fell in some places. Further south, parts of the Twin Cities saw about 3 inches fall. New Ulm received an inch of snow.
