The fire danger is high in parts of the state today (FRI), and a Red Flag Warning will be in effect for much of southern and central Minnesota from Noon to 6pm. This is due to high winds and low humidity, as well as the continued dry conditions across the area. Residents are urged to be careful with fire, especially in southwestern Minnesota. The DNR’s Jean Goad notes that campfires are allowed if they are kept to three feet in diameter and are watched at all times, although burning restrictions may apply in some areas. She urges hunters to check local fire conditions before heading out for the firearms deer opener this weekend as well.
