The trial of a Springfield man accused of sexually assaulting 2 young girls continues today (THU). 36-year-old Cesar Alejandro Olvera, formerly of Sleepy Eye, allegedly molested the 2 girls when they stayed overnight at his home several years ago. They were under the age of 10 at the time. In court on Wednesday, the jury of 7 men and 5 women learned that the charges against Olvera came 6 years after the incidents allegedly took place, and that they reportedly stem from an estrangement between Olvera and his ex-wife. One of Olvera’s alleged victims claimed in court that she didn’t tell anybody about the sexual assaults at the time because she “was scared and embarrassed.” Olvera is facing 2 counts of felony 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct for the alleged incidents. His trial is expected to wrap up today in Brown County Court.
